Schedule services from London Heathrow and London Gatwick to Palma de Mallorca are to be severely cut this winter and perhaps throughout 2010.
Will easyJet and Ryanair provide acceptable alternatives for the several hundred British home owners who want to travel
in comfort, without fuss and in a manner that is benefiting their investment in multi-million pound properties on the island of Mallorca?
As a concerned home owner who travels regularly between the UK and Palma de Mallorca I want something better than the low cost alternative. If not I would seriously consider buying somewhere else where the travelling is a pleasure and not an unpleasant chore.
Of the alternatives I am considering are the merits of starting a private flying syndicate comprising of other like-minded Mallorca property owners, who want to fly on a private aircraft and where appropriate share the cost. Imagine your choice of half a dozen UK regional airports direct to the island, where the time from arrival at a private terminal with your baggage to take off could be less than 15 minutes.
If this is of interest please register your preference and suggestions by filling out the survey below. The idea is to create a member's only club for those willing to share when they want to travel and share their aircraft. Popular dates and times might enable us to publish flights in advance.
For last minute travellers we will be able to alert members of spare seats available, via email or text, allowing you to choose what seats you wish to share or keep for yourself.
Luxury and bespoke travel; without the commitment of buying block hours and having the cost of chartering your own plane every time you want to get in and out of the island.
I would like to determine whether there is sufficient interest to put something together with the aid of all the private jet operators based in the UK and Mallorca, together with an absolutely delightful lady who for the past 10 years has been running ground ops for a major scheduled carrier at Palma de Mallorca.
I will keep you updated with regards to the survey results and any outcome of this impromptu survey driven by pure frustration and a desire to make something happen.
